Cherki and Haaland Shine for City, Bayern Hit Five as PSG Escape Late
Erling Haaland and Ryan Cherki starred for Manchester City, Bayern Munich began their Bundesliga campaign with a five-goal victory, while Paris Saint-Germain produced a dramatic late comeback against Lille.
Cherki and Haaland Power City
After failing to score against Bournemouth in Manchester City's opening Premier League match, Erling Haaland responded brilliantly in the next game.
The Norwegian striker scored twice as City defeated Crystal Palace 4-1 at Selhurst Park.
Ryan Cherki was another standout performer. The attacking midfielder scored twice in the 54th and 59th minutes after earning his place in the starting lineup.
Haaland also continued his remarkable record against Crystal Palace, scoring in each of his first six league matches against the club and taking his total to 10 goals.
Bayern Begin With Five-Star Display
Bayern Munich made an impressive start to their Bundesliga campaign with a 5-1 victory over Stuttgart.
Dayot Upamecano, Michael Olise and Luis Diaz were among the goalscorers, while Moroccan midfielder Ismael Saibari made an important contribution by creating two goals.
The match was also a milestone for Manuel Neuer, who made his 600th competitive appearance for Bayern.
The victory extended Bayern's remarkable record of remaining unbeaten in their opening Bundesliga match for 15 consecutive years.
PSG Escape With Late Comeback
PSG looked set for defeat after trailing Lille 2-0 until the 90th minute.
However, Vitinha scored in the first minute of stoppage time before Marquinhos struck in the 95th minute to secure a dramatic 2-2 draw.
It was the second consecutive league match in which Luis Enrique's side recovered from a losing position to earn a point.
Marquinhos praised the team's mentality after the match, insisting that nothing is over against PSG until the final whistle.
Final Verdict
It was a thrilling night across European football—City were inspired by Haaland and Cherki, Bayern delivered a five-star performance, and PSG showed their fighting spirit with a dramatic stoppage-time rescue.
