Paris Saint-Germain winger Khvicha Kvaratskhelia is facing a lengthy spell on the sidelines after suffering a serious right-knee injury. The Georgian international has ruptured his anterior cruciate ligament (ACL), and Cristiano Ronaldo has offered him an emotional message of support as he prepares for surgery and rehabilitation.
Kvaratskhelia expressed his frustration in a heartfelt Instagram post after learning the extent of the injury. Ronaldo, the Portuguese superstar currently playing for Al-Nassr, responded with words of encouragement, urging the 25-year-old not to lose faith in his abilities during this difficult period.
“The hardest battles in football are often the ones nobody sees. I know that feeling, Kvara. But never forget what brought you this far, and don’t let a difficult moment make you doubt how far you can go. Keep that fire on. Your best is still to come,” Ronaldo wrote.
The injury occurred during PSG’s 4-2 Champions League victory over Barcelona. Kvaratskhelia sustained the damage to his right knee during the match and was forced to leave the field before the hour mark.
Following medical examinations, PSG confirmed that the winger had suffered a ruptured ACL and would undergo surgery in the coming days. The club has not announced an official recovery timeline, but ACL injuries commonly require several months of rehabilitation. His chances of returning before the end of the 2026-27 season therefore appear slim.
Kvaratskhelia also shared his disappointment online, questioning why the setback had happened despite his careful preparation for the match. He vowed to work through the difficult recovery process and return stronger for the people who have continued to support him.
Ronaldo’s message offered encouragement at a challenging moment for the Georgian star, whose immediate focus will be surgery, rehabilitation and a gradual return to competitive football.
