Abhishek Sharma's Stunning Century Helps India Crush New Zealand and Seal Series

New Zealand posted a challenging 198 for 3 in Wellington, but India's openers made the target look remarkably easy. Abhishek Sharma and Vaibhav Sooryavanshi launched a brutal assault on the New Zealand bowlers as India chased down 199 in just 13.2 overs to win the third T20I by six wickets and take an unassailable 3–0 lead in the five-match series.

The star of the night was undoubtedly Abhishek Sharma. The left-handed opener smashed a stunning century from just 35 balls before finishing with 113 from 38 deliveries. His explosive innings included nine fours and 11 sixes.

35-Ball Hundred, 113 From 38

Abhishek attacked from the very beginning, reaching his half-century in just 14 balls before accelerating towards three figures. He completed his century in 35 deliveries, registering his fourth T20I hundred.

Earlier this year, Abhishek smashed a 30-ball century against Afghanistan to set India's fastest T20I hundred record. His latest hundred once again highlighted his extraordinary power-hitting ability.

133-Run Opening Stan

Abhishek found an explosive partner in 15-year-old Vaibhav Sooryavanshi. The pair added a stunning 133 runs for the opening wicket in only 7.1 overs. Sooryavanshi contributed 45 from 19 balls, including four fours and four sixes.

By the time Abhishek was dismissed, India needed only 21 more runs. The visitors completed the chase in 13.2 overs.

India Smash T20I Records in the Powerplay

India's dominance was perfectly illustrated by their extraordinary Powerplay. They scored 118 without losing a wicket in six overs, the highest Powerplay total by a Full Member side in men's T20Is.

India also reached 50 in just 2.2 overs, matching the joint-fastest team fifty in men's T20Is. They then raced to 100 in only five overs, setting a new record for the fastest team hundred in the format.

Daryl Mitchell's 89 Goes in Vain

Earlier, New Zealand scored 198 for 3 in 20 overs after being asked to bat first. Daryl Mitchell led the way with an unbeaten 89 from 52 balls, while Finn Allen added 40.

The hosts appeared to have posted a competitive total, but India's extraordinary start completely changed the equation.

Another Series Victory for India

India's 199-run chase was completed with 40 balls remaining, underlining the scale of their dominance. The victory also completed a 3–0 series win with two matches still to play.

Abhishek's breathtaking century, Sooryavanshi's explosive cameo and India's record-breaking Powerplay turned what could have been a difficult chase into one of the most one-sided T20I run chases in recent memory.
