Klopp Finally Gets First Germany Win as Netherlands Fight Back From Two Goals Down

Jurgen Klopp finally secured his first victory as Germany head coach as his side defeated Serbia 2-0 in the UEFA Nations League. On the same night, the Netherlands produced a dramatic comeback to draw 2-2 with Greece after falling two goals behind.

Following their disappointing defeat to Greece, Germany needed a positive response against Serbia. Klopp made sweeping changes to his lineup and fielded an entirely different starting XI from the previous match.

Germany controlled the game from the opening stages, with Aleksandar Pavlovic, Serge Gnabry and Tom Bischof creating early opportunities without finding the breakthrough. Serbia offered little going forward, with Filip Kostic providing their main threat.

The breakthrough finally came just before half-time. Florian Wirtz saw an effort come back off the post after a brilliant piece of individual play inside the box, but Tom Bischof reacted quickest to the rebound and fired Germany ahead.

Germany continued to dominate after the interval. Juventus forward Nick Woltemade missed a golden opportunity from close range, but Wirtz soon made amends. The young midfielder produced a superb first touch inside the box before finding the net with a composed finish to make it 2-0.

Germany held on comfortably for the victory, giving Klopp his first win after a difficult start to his reign.

Klopp had initially attracted attention by naming a huge 44-man squad for his first international selection. Against Serbia, he made another bold decision by leaving out every player from his previous starting XI.

Bayern Munich goalkeeper Jonas Urbig, Freiburg forward Derry Scherhant and Brentford midfielder Vitaly Janelt all made their Germany debuts. Celtic's Mika Baur also entered the history books after coming on in the 77th minute as the 1,000th player to represent Germany.

Meanwhile, the Netherlands were left frustrated after surrendering a two-goal lead against Greece.

Greece struck twice in the first half through Fotis Ioannidis and Giorgos Masouras, putting the hosts in control. The Netherlands responded after the break, with Virgil van Dijk pulling one back before Tijjani Reijnders completed the comeback.

Reijnders scored in the 89th minute to rescue a 2-2 draw and deny Greece a memorable victory.

Germany therefore finally found their first win under Klopp, while the Netherlands had to settle for a point after fighting back from two goals down.
