WTA Finals Moves to Charlotte From Riyadh for 2027–2029

The WTA Finals is set for a major change of venue. After concluding its three-year agreement with Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, the prestigious women’s tennis event will move to Charlotte, North Carolina, where it will be held from 2027 through 2029.

The Women’s Tennis Association (WTA) and Charlotte Sports Foundation officially announced the agreement on September 16.

Spectrum Center to Host Main Matches

The 2027 WTA Finals is scheduled to take place from November 10 to 14. The tournament’s main matches will be played at Spectrum Center, the home arena of the NBA’s Charlotte Hornets.

The nearby Charlotte Convention Center will be used for fan activities, entertainment and other events surrounding the tournament.

The move is expected to create a broader event experience for spectators beyond the matches themselves.

Three-Year Riyadh Agreement Comes to an End

The decision to move the WTA Finals to Charlotte follows the conclusion of the women’s tour’s three-year agreement with Riyadh.

After three editions in Saudi Arabia, the season-ending tournament will now return to the United States for a three-year run in Charlotte.

The agreement also extends beyond hosting the tournament. As part of the deal, the WTA plans to relocate its global headquarters from St. Petersburg, Florida, to Charlotte on a permanent basis.

Charlotte Set to Become a Major WTA Hub

With both the WTA Finals and the organization’s global headquarters coming to the city, Charlotte is set to take on a significant role in global women’s tennis.

The first edition in Charlotte will be held in November 2027, followed by tournaments in 2028 and 2029. The move will give the city the opportunity to host some of the biggest names in women’s tennis during the tour’s season-ending event.
