Katrina Kaif Wants to Play a Villain, Says She Would Make a Great Maleficent
Katrina Kaif has played a wide range of characters throughout her Bollywood career, but the actress now wants to explore a completely different side of her acting.
If she returns to films, Katrina says she would love to take on a villainous role and challenge herself with a character unlike anything she has played before.
Speaking about the kind of role she wants in the future, Katrina said she would love the opportunity to play a character like Maleficent. “I think I’d make a great Maleficent,” she said in her recent Vogue India interview.
Katrina Is in No Rush to Return to Films
Katrina's most recent film appearance was Merry Christmas. For now, however, the actress is focusing more on her family, motherhood and business than on making an immediate return to the big screen.
When she eventually returns, she wants to choose a project that allows her to explore a new side of her acting rather than simply repeating familiar roles.
Katrina had also expressed a similar desire in 2024, saying that she would love to play a negative character—but one with a meaningful reason behind becoming negative. For her, the character's emotional journey is just as important as the fact that she is a villain.
Katrina Praises Vicky Kaushal
The actress also spoke warmly about her husband, actor Vicky Kaushal.
Katrina described Vicky as an incredible husband and an amazing father. Despite sometimes working extremely long hours, she said he remains fully present with their family and gives her the space to be herself.
She also praised his ability to balance his professional commitments with family life, particularly his relationship with their son, Vihaan.
Katrina Responds to Postpartum Body-Shaming
After giving birth, Katrina faced criticism on social media over changes in her appearance.
The actress, however, says she does not want other people's opinions to distract her from what she considers a beautiful and important stage of her life.
She has also rejected the pressure to quickly return to her pre-pregnancy appearance, saying she wants to approach her fitness journey according to her own body and at her own pace.
Motherhood Has Become a Major Priority
Katrina and Vicky welcomed their son, Vihaan, on November 7, 2025.
Since becoming a mother, spending time with Vihaan has become one of Katrina's biggest priorities. She has no intention of rushing back to work at the expense of family time and has said that she wants to remain present for important moments, including her son's bedtime.
Taking Her Fitness Journey at Her Own Pace
Katrina remains conscious of her fitness, but she does not want to set herself an artificial deadline.
Instead, she wants to understand her body's needs and gradually reach the level at which she feels strongest and most energetic.
Her approach reflects a desire to focus on her own wellbeing rather than meeting expectations created by social media or public opinion.
Busy With Kay Beauty Too
Alongside motherhood and acting, Katrina continues to be involved with her beauty brand, Kay Beauty, which is also expanding into skincare.
For now, balancing family, motherhood and business remains her priority.
But whenever Katrina Kaif eventually returns to the big screen, audiences may see a very different side of the actress—one that could potentially be defined by a powerful and memorable villain role.
