Niloy-Himi drama faces allegations of copying Pakistani ‘Sheidai’
Niloy-Himi drama faces allegations of copying Pakistani ‘Sheidai’
The Bangladeshi drama *Prothom Premer Golpo* (Story of First Love), directed by Tanvir Tanmoy, has been accused of being a direct copy of the highly popular Pakistani series *Sheidai*, which stars Feroze Khan and Seher Ali. The lead roles in the Bangladeshi production are played by Niloy Alamgir and Jannatul Sumaiya Himi.
Controversy arose shortly after two episodes of the drama were released on YouTube. A significant number of viewers have alleged that the plot of the Pakistani series was copied verbatim, yet no writer is credited for the story.
Furthermore, the names of the screenwriter or the original author are absent from both the credits—listed alongside the cast and crew on YouTube—and the drama’s promotional posters.
In addition to Niloy and Himi, the drama features several other well-known actors, including Farin Khan.
In this digital age, where it is easy to access content from anywhere in the world, viewers are quick to identify such instances of plagiarism.
Many have commented that audiences expect original work from popular actors like Niloy Alamgir and Jannatul Sumaiya Himi.
Critics argue that imitating the plots of foreign dramas undermines the originality and distinctiveness of local productions. While such practices might lead to an immediate spike in viewership, they raise serious questions about the long-term quality of the content.
